Sick of your droopy eyelids making you look weathered and tired?
As we age, our skin loses its elasticity. This causes wrinkles, bags, and fine lines, as well as sagging eyelids.
When it comes to your eyes, that lack of elasticity means that your eyelids become more droopy and fatigued-looking. This can make you appear older than you are, no matter how you feel on the inside.
Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) will fix those droopy eyes and make them pop, just like they used to!
What is Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is eyelid surgery that can be performed on both the upper and lower eyelids.
During the process, excess skin tissue is removed to help bring back the elasticity in your eyelids. As a result, your eyes will appear more alert and awake.
What Will Blepharoplasty Help With?
Blepharoplasty helps your eyes appear more youthful. It can also help with the following things:
- Sagging eyelids
- Bags under the eyes
- Drooping under the eyelids
- Excess skin on the eyelids
- Vision issues from excess skin (mostly in the peripherals, where skin can build up over time)
Recovery and Side Effects
You might experience some minor bruising or swelling for the first few days post-surgery. This is normal and it’s part of the recovery process.
In some cases, dry or itchy skin will occur, but your doctor can provide you with a solution that will bring you some relief.
Stitches will be removed after about a week. You will also need to avoid vigorous activity for about 2-3 weeks, but you will be able to slip back into your regular routine in no time.
How Long Does it Last?
Depending on your situation, the results of blepharoplasty for the upper eyelids can last anywhere from 5 to 7 years. Lower eyelid surgery is more permanent and rarely needs to be repeated.
